ST. CHARLES – It’s fitting that St. Charles teen band The Giving Moon will open for noted guitarist Gary Hoey on Saturday, May 18, at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles.
Hoey produced the band’s first EP, “The Wild,” which will be released the day of the show. He voiced interest in working with the band after previously playing with the band at the Arcada Theatre.
“It was really fun working with him,” said Sean Seales, lead singer and guitarist in The Giving Moon. “He had a lot of musical ideas. I think he liked our songs.”
The Giving Moon is comprised of Seales, Marcello Positano on rhythm guitar, Ryan Brasley on drums and Adam Suto on bass. Seales and Brasley are freshmen at St. Charles East High School, and Suto and Positano are freshmen at St. Charles North High School.
The Giving Moon performs regularly throughout the Chicago area, and used the money from its gigs to pay for the making of the CD. The band will perform at the Kane County Fair and Naperville’s Ribfest this summer.
“We will play as long as we can,” Seales said. “Maybe we can make a career out of it.”
He has some advice for other young bands.
“Don’t stop practicing, and keep trying,” Seales said .
“The Wild” will be on sale at the show Saturday for $10. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $29, available at www.oshows.com or by calling 630-762-7000.
The Arcada Theatre is located at 105 E. Main St.
