St. Sophia's church to host 35th annual summer Greek Fest

ELGIN – St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church will host it’s 35th annual summer “Greek Fest” on July 12, 13 and 14. Festival hours for Friday are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (for lunch; rides not open); noon to 11 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday.
The fest features authentic Greek cuisine dinner dishes such as Gyros, Grecian Chicken, Souvlaki, Mousaka, Pastitsio, and Saganaki along with many traditional Greek sweets such as baklava and loukoumathes. A drive-thru is available.
Sounds of Greece DJ will play music on Friday and Saturday evening. Live band Hellas 2000 will provide traditional and modern Greek music on Sunday evening. St. Sophia’s Agape Dance Troupe will also be performing traditional Greek dances in full costume all weekend as well.
There will games and inflatable rides for the kids. Unlimited rides will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for $15. There will also be an indoor marketplace and raffles.
