ST. CHARLES – Hotel Baker is about to roll out the red carpet for a slew of celebrities planning to make their way to St. Charles on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Model and actress Jenny McCarthy of Geneva is teaming with the Hotel Baker to host a charity event that will feature a performance by cast members of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Guests and celebrities will descend on the “gem” of the Fox Valley to strut the red carpet in their best ballroom attire, and then step behind the velvet rope for an evening consisting of dinner, cocktails, a silent auction and dance revue in the hotel’s historic Rainbow Ballroom.
“It’s really exciting,” Hotel Baker owner Rowena Salas said of hosting a “Hollywood” party. “I think it’s exciting for the whole town ... . We’ve had many celebrities here in the hotel but nothing quite like this.”
The list of celebrities who will attend is still being confirmed, and contracts are merely awaiting signatures before the guest list can be officially announced, according to Salas.
“Once we know, we’ll definitely say,” she said.
McCarthy, who Salas describes as down-to-earth and genuine, is hosting the event to raise funds for Bridges Montessori Academy of St. Charles, where her son attends school.
“She has a personal connection to Bridges, because of her son having special needs,” Salas said. “I don’t want to speak for her, but – as a parent – you would have a connection with [your child’s] educational system.”
Because of McCarthy’s recent announcement that she would be co-hosting ABC’s “The View” this year, the event has garnered national media attention, said Salas, adding that networks such as Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight also may be present at the event.
“Nothing like this really happens a lot here in St. Charles, so ... I think everyone will want to be a part of it,” Salas said.
About 300 guests are expected to attend. Various ticket options are available for purchase, including platinum sponsorship for $10,000 for four people; the VIP lounge for $2,000 a couple; and the main event for $300 a couple or $200 a person. Platinum and VIP lounge ticket-holders will have red carpet access to the VIP lounge at 7 p.m. for an exclusive pre-event gathering and access to McCarthy and “Dancing” cast members. The VIP lounge will be fit with contemporary white furniture accented by gold lighting, a seafood station, hors d’oeuvres and a top-shelf open bar.
Ballroom doors open at 8 p.m. for main event ticket-holders.
