South Elgin's inaugural Pumpkin, Halloween Fest set for October

SOUTH ELGIN – The inaugural Pumpkin/Halloween Fest will take place Oct. 19 and 20 at Vasa Park in South Elgin. The event hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 19 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 20.

The festival will feature a pumpkin patch, hayride, pony rides, a petting zoo, spooky weet shop, live music, food and a Dark Harvest.

The Dark Harvest begins at 8 p.m. and will consist of a Halloween movie, smores and hot dogs by a bonfire and a Zombie Spook Walk.

Vendors will close up shop at 6 p.m., and makeup stations will open for "zombie-fication" at 6:30 p.m. The cost for zombie makeup will cost between $5 and $20.

The cost to attend the event is $11 a person, and children ages 3 and younger will be admitted for free. The entrance fee includes unlimited activ
