The Lyric Opera’s Far West Chapter will host its 50th anniversary party at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the Joseph McGill room of Cantigney Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.
The gala event will include a performance by the duo of Jennifer Silk, violinist, and Wendy Cotton, cellist and singer.
Silk is a music education graduate of Western Michigan University and Arizona State University. She has entertained audiences at more than 5,000 events as a professional musician, and she performs regularly in the viola section of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, according to a news release.
Cotton was awarded the honor of “Most Promising Young Artist” by the Metropolitan Opera of New York, states the release.
The afternoon also will include an outstanding dinner from the kitchen of Cantigney Park and a discussion of the history of the Far West Chapter.
The public is invited. The cost to attend is $45, which will pay for the cost of the event and serve as a contribution to the Lyric Opera Company.
