The Hartland Express and Macyn Taylor In Concert

Off Square Music presents area favorites The Hartland Express and phenomenal young Wisconsin guitarist and singer Macyn Taylor in concert at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 221 Dean St., Woodstock, at 7:30PM. Suggested donation is $10. The Hartland Express is Chris Strong and Roger Schiller. They have been entertaining audiences throughout northern Illinois for more than forty years. They perform some of the most popular tried-and-true songs and comedy bits, and they also love to extemporize. Chris and Roger will cheerfully launch into a song they don’t really know—at least not at peak performance level—and trust the instincts that those many years together have honed to keep them on target. They will write verses, even whole songs, on the spot or on a break. The two have several very popular audience-participation songs: “The Occupation Song,” “Hey Li Lee Li Lee Lo,” “A.A.R.P.,” and the infamous “All-Girl-Revue.” For more information about The Hartland Express, and to listen to their music, visit shorelinemedia.biz/The_Hartland_Express. Macyn Taylor was recently named one of the country's "Most Promising New Talents" by Acoustic Guitar Magazine. She has been a frequent and very popular performer at Off Square Music open mics since she was 11. She is now 16 years old and a very accomplished guitarist and singer. Macyn is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee studying finger-style guitar. She has been performing since she was seven and loves to play many different styles of music, from traditional country and blues music to the unique and dazzling stylings of Leo Kottke. Macyn is a past winner of the Woodstock Harvest Fest guitar contest, and is the 2009 East Troy, Wisconsin, Bluegrass Festival guitar playing champion.
