‘Good People’ is cliched, but it works

People never learn, even good ones. They find a satchel stuffed with cash, let greed get the better of them and foolishly decide to keep it, knowing full well that the dough surely belongs to some nefarious figure guaranteed to come after it. Haven’t these people seen “Shallow Grave,” “Millions,” “A Simple Plan,” “No Country for Old Men” or the half-dozen similar parables? Apparently not the married American couple at the heart of “Good People.” They discover a dead body in the basement of their London flat. The stench is indescribable. But it’s not enough to mask the musky smell of the 220,000 pound notes the stiff left stashed in the ceiling above.
